The Ohio State University will host the COMPAS Photo Competition (Conversations on Morality, Politics, and Society). The photos in this exhibition focus on the distinction and interplay between what is public and private. DiFranco’s work on the Female Experience of Cancer will be included in the exhibition opening March 27th, 7pm in the Thompson Library on the OSU Campus.

RISCA Announces Exhibition at T.F. Green Space Gallery


Maria DiFranco’s artwork was selected for an exhibition in T.F. Green Airport’s GREEN SPACE Gallery titled:

The Printed Peculiarity of Place”

featuring work from DiFranco and Rhode Island artists Allison Bianco and Kim Salerno. Included in the exhibition is the series of etchings by DiFranco “Providence Through the Centuries” on exhibition in the Gallery from September 2013 through January 2014.


Maria DiFranco Selected to Create Mural at Urban Scrawl 7

Each year Columbus, Ohio hosts Artists, Musicians, and Performers at the Urban Scrawl Festival.  This year, on Saturday August 17th and Sunday August 18th Maria DiFranco will create two 4 foot by 8 foot murals.  Murals by this year’s artists will be installed throughout Columbus, several will be auctioned off to raise funds for future festivals.

“Recasting Archetypes” Opening at AS220


May 4th 2013 was the Opening Reception of “Recasting Archetypes”, an exhibition of new work by Maria DiFranco at the AS220 Main Gallery, and the unveiling of Maria’s most recent series of etchings “Providence through the Centuries; Conserving the Cultural Heritage of Providence, Rhode Island” a project sponsored in part by a grant from the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts.

Installation by Maria DiFranco at the Providence Public Library

Maria DiFranco’s project “Providence Through the Centuries; Conserving the Cultural Heritage of Providence, Rhode Island” will include an Installation in the Empire Street Windows of the Providence Public Library.  This installation will coincide with her exhibition “Recasting Archetypes” at the AS220 Main Gallery, where her series of etchings depicting five centuries of Providence history will be on display through the month of May 2013


3rd Place Winner in NSAL Printmaking Competition

The National Society of Arts and Letters New York Chapter named Maria DiFranco as the Third Place Winner in the 2013 Printmaking Competition.  ¨


Finalist in 2013 AS220 Print Competition

The AS220 Community Printshop named Maria DiFranco as a Finalist in their 1st Annual Members Print Competition, juried by Andrew Raftery and Jan Howard, and hosted by the Rhode Island School of Design Museum

Maria DiFranco’s graphite drawing “Domesticating the African Wolf” was selected by Juror Judith Tannenbaum, curator of contemporary art at the RISD Museum of Art, for the 2013 Wheaton Biennial: Drawing out of Bounds, Opening on February 27th 2013. ¨

Maria DiFranco named RISCA Individual Grant Recipient 

19th Century ProvidenceThe Rhode Island State Council on the Arts named Maria DiFranco as a 2013 Individual Grant recipient for her artist project “Conserving the Cultural Heritage of Providence, Rhode Island”.  The project includes a series of five etchings that depict Maria’s research of Rhode Island’s capitol city, available for reference at the Providence Public Library.



Maria DiFranco named a 2012 BUY ART Artist
